Kinsey star Benjamin Walker is in final negotiations with Legendary Pictures to play the Archangel Michael in the forthcoming action fantasy Paradise Lost.
Alex Proyas (I, Robot, Dark City) will direct the ‘action-heavy’ film, an adaptation of John Milton’s epic 17th-century poem chronicling the war in heaven between the archangels Michael and Lucifer.
Proyas says: “We’re going to make an incredible epic film about the Devil’s fall from grace and the Archangel Michael. Adam and Eve play heavily in it as well. This film couldn’t have been made a few years ago. In fact, we’re not even sure we can make it now. But we’re gonna try.”
Limitless star Bradley Cooper is confirmed to play the role of Lucifer, while Benjamin Walker is still in talks.
Proyas told Deadline: “His deal isn’t closed yet, but I think there’s a wonderful duality about Ben’s persona, this combination of great strength and perfect innocence that works so well for Michael.”
Cooper said: “I relate a lot to this character and this story… To me, it’s a very small story about an intimate nuclear family, two brothers and their father, and what happens when one son feels utterly betrayed.”
Paradise Lost is set for a late 2013 release.
